“I’m Mădălina Sandu, the creative mind behind AMMS Studio. My training in scenography has taught me how space, light, and atmosphere can transform into a story—an understanding I carry from the theater stage into interior design.

2019-2023
PhD Performance Arts
U.N.A.T.C. "I.L. Caragiale" Bucharest
As part of my PhD, I explored the evolution of technology in theater across different historical periods, studying how everyday life shaped its presence on stage—and how, in return, theater influenced society.
This research deepened my understanding of theater as more than performance: it is a mirror of life itself, constantly adapting to cultural, technological, and human changes. This academic journey enriched not only my perspective on scenography but also my approach to designing spaces with meaning and narrative.

MA The Art of Scenography
U.N.A.T.C. "I.L. Caragiale" Bucharest
My MA studies centered on hands-on practice, working directly in the field to bring imagined designs to life. Collaborating side by side with directors and actors, I learned to transform visions into living, breathing performances.
Equally important was the academic foundation: research, documented references, and a strong knowledge of architectural and furniture history. These became essential tools for creating spaces that are not only visually compelling but also rich in meaning and context.

Scenography is a transformative path, opening doors not only to stage design but also to a wide range of spatial practices. During my first three years of study, I immersed myself in the art of character building and textual interpretation, learning how to bring them vividly to life on stage. At the same time, I explored the historical role of interior design in shaping how people experience the spaces they inhabit—a role that remains just as influential today. This foundation has strengthened my creative skills while deepening my appreciation for the environments we live in.
I began my journey into interiors during the COVID-19 lockdown, when I understood how profoundly our homes influence our well-being. That realization shaped my philosophy: design must go beyond aesthetics. A space should not only look beautiful, but also feel authentic, livable, and deeply connected to its owner’s life.”
